My name is Annie Prinsloo, Business Account Manager for EBU group Unitrade.
Back in 2017, on the 1st of August I started my journey at Unitrade and what an exciting, adrenaline filled roller coaster ride it has been. Being an “oldie” amongst our mostly young adult team, I've had to keep my competitive nature in tip-top shape during my day-to-day work activities and our recent #AxFIT Initiative did not disappoint.
Approximately 5 years ago I was viciously attacked by two dogs while jogging in the east of Pretoria which engulfed my fear of jogging or walking in our neighbourhoods. Living with this notion of not being able to indulge in my daily walk, threw my world upside down.
Scared, but excited I started with a 5.2km walk on the 1st of July, peeking around every corner to see what lies ahead, but it got better with every step as I reminded myself why I am taking on this challenge– I had a goal to achieve, my mind was set. Fast forward to day number 16 (8.1km) it’s safe to say that I have overcome my fear! Apart from the odd bark here and there that spikes a little freight.
We all feel unworthy, uncertain or undeserving at some point in our life, especially in these bizarre circumstances we all find ourselves in.
So here I am, having overcome one of my fears wanting to remind us that NOTHING can hold you back in life, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure, it is our light, not our darkness that most frighten us.”
